Grace for Your Calling

“Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith”

Romans 12:6 (NKJV)

Your gift is not a trophy. It is a delivery. Paul puts it plainly: "Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith" (Romans 12:6, NKJV). Read that again. The gift differs because the grace differs. God did not hand you somebody else's assignment and then grade you on it. He graced you for yours.

Look at how Paul sets it up just before this verse. We are one body with many members, and the members do not all have the same function. The eye is not failing because it cannot walk. The hand is not behind because it cannot see. Every part carries a grace the other parts do not, and the whole body suffers when one part decides its grace is too small to bother with. Your calling is not the leftover slot nobody else wanted. It is the piece of God's own grace that He chose to run through you.

So the teacher teaches. The giver gives with liberality. The one who leads leads with diligence, and the one who shows mercy does it with cheerfulness, because grace is not grim. And the gift sitting unused in you is not humility. It is inventory God meant for somebody else, still sitting on your shelf. Somebody in your world is waiting on the exact grace you have been apologizing for.

Day 18 of 30 on grace, and here is the charge for today: whatever He put in you, use it this week, out loud, for somebody else. Prophecy, serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, mercy. Open your hands. Grace was never given to be stored. It was given to be spent.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the grace You trusted me with. Show me whose hands it was meant for, and give me the boldness to use it this week instead of shelving it. In Jesus' name, Amen.
